Going from being snotty to clear headed in 15 seconds, the guys at Saatchi & Saatchi wanted to create a surreal, comic journey that tapped into that larrikin Aussie sense of humour. While the original script had all sorts of fanciful ways to descend a mountain, we landed on keeping it simple and just using the La-Z-Boy. It felt like something an Aussie Winter Olympic team would do for laughs (which is possibly why I'm not an Olympian).
Integrating live action with CGI required some clever grip work. Creating various bespoke rigs for the chair, our ever patient actor James Tait (nothing like multiple make-up changes or 1000mph of wind in your face) always had something to act against, and it helped embed him in his environment. Supported by the bloody lovely Elastic, ace crew, along with our adventurous client, it was a true team effort.
